JOHN D. STRONG
BOOKS
Do you love a good story? I do! I especially enjoy stories that go deep into the hearts of characters and show how they overcome life’s challenges.
I love history, especially reading and watching movies on the Civil War, World War II, Vietnam, and the Holocaust. My heart beats harder watching people take heroic action in a time of crisis. Heroes are often normal people who do extraordinary things. It’s the helicopter crew who repeatedly put themselves in harm’s way to rescue someone trapped or wounded. Or the soldier(s) who hold off the enemy long enough to allow their comrades to reach safety, often perishing in the process. It’s the hometown girl who fights the invader either overtly or in relaying information. It’s the family who hides enemy soldiers or civilians fleeing for their lives, when the penalty if they are caught is death.
I’ve written stories that I hope will inspire readers in the same way. My most recent one is about a modern-day woman, Kate, who must face difficulties and tackle challenges from the time she was a child and was dealt a heavy blow. She learns how to develop courage, inner strength, and the ability to face her past traumas and present dangers to have a good future.
KATE’S JOURNEY OF FAITH – PURSUIT

Kate Edwards, newly orphaned at eleven, experiences culture shock when she is sent to live with her uncle, a man she never met. No longer a pampered child of wealthy parents, she has to adjust to a whole new way of life in the wilds of Montana. In her teen years, she suffers events that traumatize her so deeply that she moves far away. Years later, still tortured by the memories, she follows her therapist’s advice to face her fears and returns home. Unexpectedly, the same dangers await her, and she ends up in a life-and-death struggle not only for her own survival, but also for her uncle’s. Facing certain torture and death, she has no way of escape. Would God, from whom she has run all her life, care enough to help her?

What READERS Say
“Katy’s (Kate’s) Journey of Faith tells of one woman’s realization that God can take a mess and turn it into a message. No matter what we encounter in life, God is in control and helps us during our darkest times, even if we don’t feel his presence. John Strong writes an uplifting, hopeful novel that explores what most Christians experience as they walk through the trials and tribulations of living in a fallen world.” ~D. H.
“God is at work softening the heart of embittered Kate. See how he uses life and death situations to draw her attention to him. Action packed, yet heart-warming.” ~E. L.
“In reading John D. Strong’s Pursuit, I found myself relating to various aspects of the main character, Kate. While I haven’t gone through some of the traumatic events Kate went through, I certainly have dealt with my own traumas. Coming to terms with those events is probably one of the hardest things as humans we deal with. That is what Kate is trying to do in Pursuit.
“This story draws you in with conversations between Kate and her counselor as well as the recounting of things from her past that led up to her present situation. The dialogue was so rich in many places that I found myself completely engrossed in the story, and the ending certainly was a surprise! Would recommend it!” ~S. M.
